Breast Feeding Strategy

Breastfeeding gives children one of the best starts in life and provides considerable physical and emotional health benefits to both mothers and babies through infancy and into childhood. An increasing body of evidence has built up over the past decade to indicate that improving breastfeeding rates would have a positive impact on public health.

This strategy provides a framework for increasing breastfeeding rates in Blaenau Gwent. The document is a draft for consultation, designed to promote further discussion and debate about how its aims can be achieved. The document has not yet been endorsed by all organisations of the Children and Young People’s Partnership, but opportunities will be provided throughout the consultation period, beginning at the launch of the Strategy on 25th June, to offer comments and ideas.
