Chatterbox

The Blaenau Gwent Sure Start Health Team has established a group for Children with Speech and Language difficulties with the support of the Speech and Language Therapy Department called "Chatterbox".

The Group focuses on stimulating Language through Play Activities. The Groups run for eight weeks and are held at various venues throughout Blaenau Gwent.The Group aims to improve confidence, interaction, attention, listening and concentration skills, all of which are the early steps to Speech and Language Development. Topics and activities include: Flash Cards,Musical instruments, Puppets and lots of messy Craft Activities.Other Professionals are also invited to the Sessions. These include Health Visitors, Speech and Language Therapists,Blaenau Gwent Libraries, Language and Play Co-ordinator.

Some of the sessions include a trip to the library and also the local Fire Station. Sometimes Mrs Tufty comes along with a story and some Puppets to teach the Children about Road Safety.
