Finding Information On The Site

This web site is updated on a regular basis and most of the information you can receive by phone or email is found on this web site. This quick guide will help you find information.

Accessing the Site

You have already done this as you can now see the 11-13 years age group section of 01495info.com. However, the web site is split up into 6 categories:

  • 0 - 3 Years
  • 4 - 10 Years
  • 11 - 13 Years
  • 14 - 17 Years
  • 18 - 25 Years
  • Parents and Professionals

Each age group contains information related to that age category. For example, the 18 - 25 section will contain information on employment and training, whereas 0 - 3 will contain information on child care.

To select an age group on the home page (found at www.01495info.com), simply click on the relevant age category at the top of the page, as shown with the yellow arrow below.

Help Guide

These aren't all the sections however. On the right hand side of the page you will notice the 6th section known as parents and professionals. This section contains all information on the site in one age group, making it easy for parents and professionals to find the information they require with ease.

Below the "Parents & Professionals" link, you will see 3 more links:

  • Blaenau Gwent's Child & Young People's Partnership (CYPP)
  • Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council's main web site
  • Blaenau Gwent's Team Around the Child

The CYPP and Team and the Child pages are built into 01495info.com and will open in the same window. However, the Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council's main web site is their own seperate web site. This will open in a new window.

The red arrow points out the Report Abuse button which will open a new window which goes to the CEOP web site. Read below to find out more.

On the bottom of ALL pages, there is a report abuse button, which looks like this:

This button will open a new window which goes straight to the CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) web site. This is a government web site to help you report hacking, viruses, cyberbullying or even sexual behaviour.

Searching For Information

All our pages contain what's known as tags. This allows you to search our site using these tags, and any page matching the same as what you've entered, will be displayed. The search can also pick up on page titles and content. For example, on this section of the web site, you can type the search term into the search box, as shown below and pointed out by the yellow arrow. Just type the search term into the box as shown, and click the search button below.

When we click 'Search', the system will look through all pages for relevant pages. These are our results:

As you can see from this, it's picked up several results. Unfortunately, we can't show you all the results here, but we have shown you the top 2 results. The arrows point out where the search word have shown up in page titles, and any terms found in the page that match our query have been circled. You can see this is an effective and quick way to find information. Why not try it yourself?

Browsing Through The Site

If you would prefer to just browse the site to see what useful information you can find, then please do! This section will help you browse the site.

Once you have selected your age group, you can see the main menu for the web site on the left hand side. When you hover your mouse over the button, it will change and it might bring up a new menu link this:

The yellow arrow shows you the new menu that shows up. If you however your mouse over a page, then it will bring up any sub pages, and this will keep happening until there are no more sub pages. If you click on a link, it will bring up more information on that page and more information on the sub pages.

HOWEVER, not everyone will see this menu. If this is the case, you can just click on the main links on the left hand side, which will bring up a list of all the sub pages and more information about each of them.

This screenshow shows an example of what clicking the 'Info' link would bring up. The red arrow shows your a more detailed description of what that page brings up. You can click on either the title of the page, or 'more info' to display the full page.

Viewing a Page

When you access a page, it will contain the heading of it (at the top in big letters), followed by content and finally sub pages. Some pages however, may contain related documents such as PDF files or word documents like application forms or leaflets.

The red arrow above shows you the related documents each with their file type (PDF, DOC etc), and their size. Some are measured in megabytes (MB) and some in kilabytes (KB).

For comparison, a 1 MB file can take approximately 2minutes, 35 seconds to download on a 56k modem. However, if yo use broadband, this will be much quicker.

The yellow arrow shows you the first sub page in this page. Underneath this is more information and a more info link (see above).
