School Nurse

A school health nurse is a qualified nurse, some also have a recognised qualification in school health nursing.

Their main role is to promote the health of school children and the wider school community through school and community based health education programme.

School nurses provide a variety of services such as providing health and sex education within schools, carrying out developmental screening, undertaking health interviews and administering immunisation programmes. School nurses can be employed either by the local health authority, primary care trust, community trust or sometimes by the school directly.

Ask at your local school to find out your school's nurse.
