Housing Options Team & Homelessness Service
We can help you if you are homeless or at risk of losing your home, or even if you are living in inappropriate housing. If you would like to talk about your housing needs, please contact us as soon as possible.
Don’t leave it until the last minute to get in touch, contact us as soon as possible.
We will give advice to everyone.
We can advise upon the following accommodation options:
- Housing associations
- Private renting
- Supported accommodation
- Emergency/temporary accommodation
- Assessment of your legal rights under homelessness law
- Getting support to move or to stay in your home
- Tenancy support
- Referrals to specialist services for further advice and help.
What can you expect when contacting the team?
An initial contact form to be completed, then either:
An appointment for a Housing Options / Homelessness assessment.
Provide advice and support relating to your situation.
Assessments and outreach visits
It is local authority policy that all assessments are undertaken on council premises. However if someone does suffer from illness or disability, we can arrange for assessments to take place at their home.
We can arrange for people to be visited in prison or hospital if they need advice before their release or discharge date.
Privacy and confidentiality
- Everyone’s circumstances are treated confidentially.
- We will provide a private room for all assessments.
- We ask for permission to contact other agencies or statutory bodies.

Homeless?
Are you homeless or threatened with homelessness?
You may be classed as homeless if:
- You have no accommodation that you are legally entitled to occupy.
- It has been agreed that it is not reasonable for you to live in your accommodation.
- You have accommodation but cannot gain entry into it.
- You face violence or are at risk of violence from someone within your accommodation.
- You are at risk of violence or harassment.
- You live in a caravan or houseboat but have no place to stay in it.
- You are threatened with homelessness if:
- You are going to lose your accommodation within the next 28 days.
If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness please contact the Housing Options Team / Homelessness Service immediately.
