WHAT IS SNAP Cymru?


SNAP Cymru is a National Charity, unique to Wales, founded in 1986.  Its main aim is to advance the education of people in Wales and support their inclusion. Trained experienced staff and volunteers work with families, children and young people, their parents, carers and professionals working with those who have or may have additional learning needs, which include SEN, disability, and other barriers eg exclusion, disaffection, poverty, deprivation, english or welsh as a second language.
SNAP Cymru provides accurate information, objective advice and support for a range of issues including assessments, statements of special educational needs, bullying, school attendance, exclusion, health and social care provision and discrimination. Other services we provide include advocacy, disagreement resolution and training for young people, parents and professionals.
SNAP Cymru has worked to facilitate partnership for over 20 years and have a wealth of knowledge and experience. SNAP Cymru holds the Community Legal Services Specialist Quality Mark (Education Advice) Investors in People Quality Mark, and the Investing in Volunteers Quality Mark.
We are the leading provider of Parent Partnership and Disagreement Resolution Services in Wales, and have developed representation and advocacy services for children and young people, parents and carers. SNAP Cymru works with the twenty two Local Authorities in Wales. We work closely with Social Services, Health, LEAs, Schools, Social Care providers, Careers Wales, DWP and Third Sector Partners.
Who can we help?
All Families, Children and Young people who have or may have Additional Learning Needs, including Special Educational Needs / Disabilities, and other barriers e.g. children in need, disaffection, poverty, deprivation, English or Welsh as a second language who live in Wales.
Carers, Professionals, and others who support Children and Young people including Schools, Colleges and other Community Education Establishments.
How can we help?
· Listen and discuss your concerns.
· Help families understand their rights and how to work in partnership with others.
· Help families communicate their views in writing or face to face.
· Help children and young people express their views and have their voices heard.
· Help families prepare for meetings, school visits, and discussions with professionals.
· Offer support and representation at meetings and appeals when appropriate.
· Organise informal and formal disagreement resolution meetings.
· Give you information about the services in your area and signpost and refer you to access the support you need.
· Provide advocacy services for children and young people.
· Provide training for parents, carers, young people and professionals on a wide range of topics related to additional learning needs, SEN and disability.

Mae SNAP Cymru yn Elusen Genedlaethol, sy’n unigryw i Gymru, a sefydlwyd ym 1986. Ei phrif nod yw datblygu addysg pobl yng Nghymru a chefnogi’r broses o sicrhau cynhwysiad. Mae staff a gwirfoddolwyr profiadol sydd wedi derbyn hyfforddiant yn cydweithio â theuluoedd, plant a phobl ifanc, eu rhieni, gofalwyr a phobl broffesiynol, sy’n gweithio â’r sawl a chanddynt neu a allai fod ganddynt anghenion addysgol ychwanegol, sy’n cynnwys AAA, anabledd a rhwystrau eraill, e.e. neilltuaeth, anfodlonrwydd, tlodi, amddifadiad, a Saesneg neu’r Gymraeg fel ail iaith.
Mae SNAP Cymru yn cynnig gwybodaeth gywir, cyngor a chefnogaeth wrthrychol ynghylch ystod o achosion gan gynnwys asesiadau, datganiadau anghenion addysgol arbennig, bwlio, presenoldeb yn yr ysgol, gwaharddiadau, darpariaeth gofal iechyd a chymdeithasol a neilltuaeth. Mae’r gwasanaethau eraill a gynigir gennym yn cynnwys eiriolaeth, datrys anghydfodau a hyfforddiant i bobl ifanc, rhieni a phobl broffesiynol.
Mae SNAP Cymru wedi gweithio ers 20 mlynedd tuag at hwyluso partneriaethau, ac mae gennym gyfoeth o ymwybyddiaeth a phrofiad. Mae gan SNAP Cymru Farc Ansawdd Arbenigwyr mewn Gwasanaethau Cyfreithiol Cymunedol (Cyngor ar Addysg), Marc Ansawdd Buddsoddwyr Mewn Pobl a Marc Ansawdd Buddsoddwyr Mewn Gwirfoddolwyr.
Ni yw prif ddarparwyr Gwasanaethau Partneriaethau â Rhieni a Datrys Anghydfodau yng Nghymru, ac rydym wedi datblygu gwasanaethau cynrychioli ac eirioli i blant a phobl ifanc, rhieni a gofalwyr. Mae SNAP Cymru yn cydweithio â’r 22 Awdurdod Lleol yng Nghymru. Rydym yn cydweithio’n agos â’r Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol ac Iechyd, Awdurdodau Addysg Lleol, Ysgolion, darparwyr Gofal Cymdeithasol, Gyrfaoedd Cymru, yr Adran Gwaith a Phensiynau a Phartneriaid o’r Trydydd Sector.
