School Gates Employment Initiative

The School Gates Employment Support Initiative aims to increase the amount of employment and enterprise support available to parents in and around their children’s schools. It is hoped that the initiative will help increase the number of parents entering sustainable employment. This might not be full time employment; for some parents, part-time employment or self-employment may be more suitable.

As part of the initiative, we will be visiting all 28 Primary Schools across Blaenau Gwent and will be running a series of Parent Roadshows which will provide:

Advice and guidance around all your training and employment needs.
'Better off' calculations.
Childcare support and advice.
Pamper treatments and refreshments.
Short courses.
Help with writing your CV.
Introductions to family friendly employers.

Parents will receive added benefits, such as a free school sweater for their child, for coming along to a Roadshow and then returning the following week to access more support.
