KIDZ R US is a not for profit making, self-funding social enterprise organisation which teaches performing arts, primarily street dancing, drama and singing, to the children of Tredegar and surrounding area.

Singing lessons: Wednesday 6-7pm (7-10yr old), 7-8pm (11yrs-adult)

Our membership has risen from 5 in 2000 when we used a hall kindly donated by the Moose, to 228 in 2006 where we have purchased our own premises.

Our main focus is our dance classes; these are based around street dancing but also incorporate musical stage dancing and our drama classes that teach acting skills and offer certificates to various levels.

Our classes are taught by professional teachers and choreographers. Some of our 14yrs+ children are being trained to teach classes, thereby acquiring even more skills.

We have started a choir, which meets weekly and has members ranging from 4yrs to adults. The choir and the dance classes are run by choreographer and singing teacher Katy Dann. Recently Katy has been busy as a vocal coach to “The Darkness” and also has been recording her own songs (You can hear some of them at http://www.myspace.com/katydann)

We are also attracting a group of teenage boys interested in the technical side of theatre production who are learning skills with sound, lighting and projector work.

We encourage other groups to use our facilities too: we currently have a tap and ballet class run independently on a Monday evening, acoustic and electric guitar lessons, also run independently; we also support local schools by with costumes and technical advice.
