Football Development

The Football Development Officer for Blaenau Gwent, develops more opportunities for both boys and girls to participate in football and develop standards of play.  The two national schemes that have been developed in the local area are the FAW Club Accreditation and Faw Schools Accreditation Programme.

This will be achieved through the operational activities of the FAW, the Area Football Programme, the Womens and Girls' Football Programme, the Coach Education Programme and Player Development.

To support the above aims and objectives a set criteria is completed by the indiviual Primary Schools and Junior Schools which help enhance their current programmes supporting the development of more participants.
Women and girls' football is the fastest growing sport in the world and in recognition of this, the FAW Trust is committed to improving opportunities for female participation in the game.

The women and girls' football programme is a national scheme aimed at increasing participation and improving standards of play to support the future success of female national teams.  Work is being undertaken with clubs and schools throughout Wales to ensure regular playing opportunities for girls.
