Childcare Solutions - Summer 2011

The long summer school holidays are nearly here.
Are you stressing over who is going to look after your child(ren)?

A recent survey of over 1000 parents living and working in Blaenau Gwent showed a demand for more school holiday childcare, that was flexible and available in the right locations.

Finding the right quality and quantity of childcare is essential for parents to be able to work and train or in the case of many parents of children with disabilities or special needs, just to have respite time.

For many parents, managing school holidays can be a problem and can mean having to find new childcare arrangements or activities to keep children busy. Many families are helped out by grandparents and other relatives but the number of parents using childcare and especially holiday clubs run by childcare professionals, is soaring in Blaenau Gwent. Therefore the number of holiday clubs have increased.

Last year children in our holiday clubs had a summer of fun – hunting dragons, super-tubing, having animal road shows, making pizzas at Domino’s, going to rock school, samba drumming etc.

Affordability and availability of childcare are often seen as problems for many parents/carers but there are now many solutions on offer to help combat these problems.
