Family Information Service - FIS

The Family Information Service - FIS is your local one-stop-shop for children, young people and their families.

Participation

Children and young people represent about a third of the Borough’s population. Providing opportunities for children and young people to articulate their views and access information is integral to the work of the Blaenau Gwent Children and Young People’s Partnership.

Local Safeguarding Children's Board

"Safeguarding Children is everyone's responsibility and only by working in partnership can we ensure children and young people are kept safe."

Youth Inclusion Support Panel

The Youth Inclusion Support Panel targets young people who are at risk of social exclusion or becoming involved in anti-social and/or offending behaviour. They were established to ensure that children/young people (8-16 yrs) receive preventative services at an early age.

Parenting

The ‘Incredible Years’ and ‘Parents Together’ are Parenting Programmes that are available to all Parents across Blaenau Gwent. The programmes are designed to strengthen and support relationships between parents and their children.

Libraries

You're never too young to visit your library!
Sharing books from a very early age is fun and will help children learn to talk and later to read more easily. Children who listen to stories learn lots of new words and sentences. This gives them a good start when they go to playgroup, nursery and school.

SNAP Cymru

SNAP Cymru is a Charity that offers information and support to families of children and young people who have or may have special educational needs. These may be additional learning needs or disability.

All families need help at critical moments. We support children and families with the most difficult problems and are the largest provider of family support services in the UK.

EVAD

Ebbw Vale and District Development Trust (EVAD) is a Blaenau Gwent based Development Trust and Charity that seeks to work in partnership to facilitate the economic and social regeneration of the town of Ebbw Vale and the other communities in the Ebbw Fawr Valley.

Social Services

Blaenau Gwent Social Services have a legal duty to look after vulnerable people in Blaenau Gwent. Social Services ensure that people with social care needs are provided with help, care, support and protection to enable them to live independent and dignified lives, at home or elsewhere within the community

Hi Counselling (Help Inside)

We are a free generic counselling service based in Abertillery but operate throughout Blaenau Gwent. We are established and GPs, Social Services, Action for Children, Trothwy, Wallich etc refer clients to us.
