Blaenau Gwent is a unique County Borough rich in history with a successful industrial past. With this past there is a legacy. The Borough has been successful in developing its services for children, young people and families. The Integrated Children’s Centre in Blaina, improvement in school standards, protection and safeguarding the most vulnerable children, the Youth Mayor and Forum are examples of recent successes and developments.

There are problems to be tackled too, poor health, unemployment, high levels of poverty, the need to improve attainment levels of our children and young people. The Children and Young People’s Partnership and the Single Plan has a vital role to play in meeting these challenges. The Public, independent and Voluntary Sectors are key in effecting change. The Single Plan sets out how these organisations together with the community will begin to address these issues.

The Partnership and the Single Plan is the starting point, the next step is to get down to action, focusing our resources on key priorities. We are committed to working together across organisations to deliver responsive, innovative and effective quality services. By doing so, we aim to ensure all children and young people will be supported to achieve their full potential.
